Ferns Lodge is a small Victorian lodge house nestled within 4 acres of wild Hampshire gardens that are in an ongoing state of restoration.
Ferns Lodge is an NGS garden. As such, a couple of times a year the gates are opened to the public. In order to convey the wild beauty of the gardens and its resident wildlife, Tinstar Design was commissioned to design and build a website that would chart its progress.
As well as having a relatively free hand over the design, we had a lot of fun creating extra little features, such as the buzzing bee in the header; one of the garden’s residents.
The outline map of the site was pretty dry in appearance. We loaded it into our iPad Pro and used Apple’s Procreate and an Apple pencil to create a hand-drawn rendering of the garden from above. A timelapse of the illustration can be viewed below.
