In the summer of 2016, Jesus College, Oxford set out to diversify the portraits displayed on its walls in order to reflect a twenty-first century college community.
Ander McIntyre, an alumnus of Jesus College, made this possible by offering to take an on-going series of photographic portraits of College members. An exhibition featured the first thirteen portraits, each with a one word description chosen by the subject.
Tinstar Design was commissioned by Jesus College to design and produce a catalogue and invitations for the Portaits of a College exhibition.
In 2018, the Portaits of a College theme continued with the design of a new brochure that gave background information on portraits from the Permanent Collection.
From Elizabeth I to Howard Wilson, each person featured in the portraits has, or has had, a significant connection with Jesus College, shaping not only the College and its community, but the wider world in which they lived or still live.
